Self-serve is a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license for internal research and internal apps. Redistribution needs a commercial license.

Grant (self-serve)
While your self-serve subscription is paid, AQX LLC grants you the right to call PIT and to use what it returns. That means rows, coverage certificates (our per-day record of what we read), mapping, and, on Power and Desk, flat files. The right runs inside systems and research that you or your employer run. That includes research notebooks, internal backtests, and internal tools whose users are your staff.
The grant is identical on every self-serve plan. Researcher, Power, and Desk differ in rate limit, key count, and flat-file access, and each gives you the same rights over the rows you receive.

I will use PIT for internal research and applications I operate for myself or my employer. If my product's end users receive this data, or I redistribute it, I need a Commercial License.
Commercial (not self-serve)
You need a commercial license, priced separately, if any of these are true:
- Your product's end users see PIT data
- You redistribute, resell, or sublicense the corpus or derived feeds
- You embed PIT in a customer-facing product
- You train a public model for others on PIT data
- You build a competing information API
Write operations@aqx.llc. There is no commercial SKU in Stripe Checkout. False attestation is a 403 commercial_license_required.
Forbidden on every plan
- Competing product or resale of the corpus
- A “derived official archive” of publisher bodies
- Storing WSJ / Reuters / Bloomberg article bodies sourced from PIT (we do not ship those bodies)
- Passing a key to an unbounded third party
Acceptable use: /legal/aup.
Samples
The public sample is a watermarked playground on a pinned subset, limited to 30 requests a minute per IP. It is enough to compare an as-of cut — a read bounded to a past instant — against a naive one. It grants no right to backtest the corpus.
Source material
Everything we ship is public-record metadata we ingest. We set available_at only from a receipt we took or a clock the publisher published. You do not receive a copyright in any publisher's text through this license. You receive a cut of what was knowable at T under the named clock.
Every source in the corpus, its lane, and the terms it arrives under. A lane says how a row got its timestamp. If a source is served, it is on this table.

The corpus ships in two lanes, and the license terms are the same in both. certified_pit rows carry a clock we hold evidence for. forward_first_seen is a tape we started ourselves. openFDA serves only a recall's current state, and a GLEIF delta says what changed since yesterday, so those two carry no back history and no certification. The upstream terms above apply to rows in that lane exactly as they do to the certified ones. The lane label describes how much we can evidence about the clock; your rights over a row are the same either way.
Your grant from us is the same for every row on this table: internal use under this license, or a commercial license for anything else. Your rights come from this license alone; the upstream terms describe what we were allowed to ingest. Per-source clock policy: /docs/clocks. Coverage per source per day: /docs/coverage.
End of grant
Cancel or account delete ends the self-serve grant. Delete derived stores that you would not be allowed to keep without a license. Outstanding invoices remain payable. The API server's source code in git sits outside this license and carries no rights to the corpus.
